Where Is Search Headed?

Time Magazine has a great story on where search is headed and some of the companies that might play a role.


So the battle is on for the next generation of search, which will be smarter and more tailored to the individual, embrace video and music--and be accessible from any device with a chip

Singingfish, acquired by America Online (which is owned by Time Warner, TIME's parent company) two years ago, can search AOL's video library of 15,000 titles, plus millions more over the Web.

Viisage, uses facial images for search recognition.

Boston-based Mobot has developed technology that maps the features in a picture taken with a cell-phone camera and matches it to a database of images.

Blinkx.TV offers a search for specific video clip in a movie
