Why Are Vending Machines So Vital To The Mobile Industry?

Vending machines will soon be mini cell towers.

 It is being called WiFi 2.0 and Hypernet and the Japanese are about to make it take off.

Understand that this is where the mobile industry is headed. One of the investing trends I highlight in my book (How To Find Big Stocks) called "WiFi 2.0". The "holy grail" of communications is when any computing device can switch seamlessly among different frequencies so that the transmission of data (regardless of size) is never stopped.

Soon every cell phone will be able to switch seamlessly between cell towers and WiFi hotspots.

This solves a couple problems for wireless carriers:
1. how to handle to deluge of data being used on their network
2. finding new real estate to put up cell towers

You have to realize that any WiFi hot spot will be a mini cell tower now and cell phones will switch back forth (cell tower and wifi) to keep signal.

Internet Traffic To Grow 4 Fold In 4 Years

Cisco, in its fifth annual Visual Networking Index forecast, also said that the number of network-connected devices by 2015 will reach more than 15 billion, or about twice the world’s population.

Cisco says the increase in traffic from 2014 to 2015 alone will be 200 exabytes, more than the total IP traffic generated in 2010.

Some other staggering stats:

Mobile Internet traffic will increase 26x

Video traffic will increase 14x

The Next Big Thing For Mobile Communications

The next big thing for mobile communications.

The explosion of data consuming smart phones are clogging the the cell tower traffic highway.

Wireless carriers can either put up more cell towers or buy more spectrum.

WiFi Hotspots...Being Phased Out Like Telephone Booths?

The demise of WiFi hotspots is another disruptive event with many winners and losers.

Ericsson marketing officer is predicting the demise of hotspots

As mobile broadband takes off, Wi-Fi hotspots will become as irrelevant as telephone booths, Ericsson Chief Marketing Officer Johan Bergendahl said Monday.

Mobile broadband is growing faster than mobile or fixed telephony ever did, Bergendahl said.

"Hotspots at places like Starbucks are becoming the telephone boxes of the broadband era," said Bergendahl. In Austria they are saying that mobile broadband will pass fixed broadband this year.

Is the decline in Starbucks business already reflecting this?
