6G Will Be Here By 2030 According To Nokia

 

From CNBC, Nokia CEO says 6G will be here by 2030.

• Nokia builds telecoms networks that enable devices to communicate with one another. 
  
• Asked when he thinks the world will move away from using smartphones to using smart glasses and other devices that are worn on the face, Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark said it will definitely happen by the time 6G arrives in 2030.
• U.S. tech giants such as Meta, Google and Microsoft are working on new augmented reality headsets that could one day replace the smartphone.

 The key point to this transformation,  "Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark expects 6G mobile networks to be in operation by the end of the decade but he doesn’t think the smartphone will be the most “common interface” by then."

UpCode parking is a 'point&click' mobile solution using the highly developed UpCode(TM) program, which enables a mobile phone to act as an optical reader to 'scan' any physical object, on any surface or on-screen by 'clicking' at a mobile barcode. UpCode is free for non-commercial and non- professional use and users pay only according to existing Internet tariffs charged by the mobile service provider.

Nokia...A Location Based Service Provider?

Nokia launched a service on Thursday which it said would cut the time a GPS-enabled cellphone takes to pinpoint its whereabouts, opening new opportunities for location-based online services.

Nokia hopes the service, available for users of its flagship N95 phones, will cut the startup time to one minute, from up to three minutes currently. The slowness has so far hampered takeup of cellphone navigation.

Nokia bought into the navigation industry last year through its acquisition of German firm Gate5 and started to offer free maps and routing data in February 2007, while charging extra fees for navigation.

Abaxia's Mobile Codes To Be Featured In French Magazines

Physical world connection player Abaxia will begin offering MobileTags in three prominent French magazines.

Smart barcodes make camera phones portals to content

In summer 2007, French magazines Public, Closer, and Voici will begin printing two-dimensional “smart barcodes” in their publications, giving some readers an even faster and simpler way to access a wealth of multimedia content.

When photographed using compatible camera phones, the barcodes, known as “Tags” or “Flashcodes,” immediately open access to multimedia content on a user’s cell phone, including photos, video, and Internet links.

According to Cédric Mangaud, CEO of Abaxia , the French provider of MobileTag , the application "was developed by Abaxia to allow simple and easy access to external content—drawn from places like newspapers, billboards, television, advertisements, catalogues, and so on".

MobileTag's application has already been customised for a major Telecom group and their barcode reader is embedded in some of Nokia's phones in France.

By adding a smart barcode to their layouts, newspapers could provide readers with immediate access to their corresponding websites and expanded multimedia content, thus bridging the print-online gap even more quickly.

Nokia Mobile Codes In Beta....What's Next?

Physical World Connection gets a big boost.

Nokia starts offering the ability to create and read Mobile Codes. Microsoft offers the ability to create your own 2d codes too. Recently the largest consumer good packaging company in the world announced they would be placing them on packaging.

I think the chicken and egg are pretty much covered here. To complete the loop, a social network site should starting offering the ability to create and scan 2d codes too. Let the targeted demographic determine the creative applications for these codes.

The quicker consumers and corporations can create their own 2d codes (physical world hyperlinks) through a universal platform, the quicker PWC gets adopted.

On Nokia's Beta Site , they are offering the ability to create a 2d code (Mobile Code), and several software applications (downloadable), that allow you to scan the Mobile Codes with a Nokia camera phone. If you have a Nokia N93, N93i, N95 or E90, you will find the Nokia barcode reader preinstalled on your device, ready to scan mobile codes around you.


If the carriers that work with the compatible Nokia phones were smart, they would start offering the ability to create Mobile Codes (physical world hyperlinks) on their site.

If I am Nokia, I would be looking for sites that allow individuals to continuously generate content. Know which ones I would target first?
