Where Will The Advertising Dollars Go?

From Investors Business Daily PepsiCo, P&G And GM Channeling Ads Online (sub req'd)

A couple lines I found of interest.

When a major player like Procter Gamble changes their advertising patterns, I take note as to where they redirect it.

Spending on TV commercials is expected to fall sharply in the coming months, while outlays for online ads continue to surge.

In place of the traditional 30-second TV promotion, these players are turning more to Internet ads and other types of new media

"At the end of the day, marketers have a simple principle: They follow consumers," said Greg Stuart, president of the Interactive Advertising Bureau, a trade group.

"If marketers are removing money from TV because consumers have removed themselves from TV, my assumption is (marketers) will follow consumers to the Internet."

Why not follow them to the Internet they carry with them at all times, all day long?
