March Madness Mobile Marketing

I wonder why more companies aren't introducing more mobile marketing and mobile content related to March Madness. This would be the right demographic to target and the campaign could be dynamic score changes, schedules etc.

Sprint's March Madness
Sprint is getting a serious case of March Madness. The carrier announced a slate of exclusive mobile content based on college basketball, including mobile-specific news and game analysis of every game from the opening round to the final buzzer.

The service, which begins on March 13, will provide subscribers with full recaps of every game, including scores. For games that are going all the way down to the wire, the service will send out an alert when only six minutes remain in a tight match-up. The service will be hosted by Bonnie Bernstein, a popular sports commentator.

In addition to offering news services, Sprint will also allow fans to show their spirit by offering ringtones based on college fight songs and wallpapers of team-related materials. Customers can access this material by sending the word HOOPS to short code 7777.

Bonnie Bernstein, March Madness and mobile content seem like a great combo to me. Maybe I'll just watch the game recap on my phone with the Sprint Ambassador program.
