Google is so powerful because it allows us to search and connect with data ON the Internet.
The next Google will allow us to connect physical content TO the Internet.
International Telecommuncation Union released a report called Internet Of Things
If there was any doubt that the mobile phone and physical world hyperlinks will be bigger than the first phase of the Internet, this should remove it.
Some key points.
New technologies like RFID and smart computing promise a world of networked and interconnected devices that provide relevant content and information whatever the location of the user.
Early forms of ubiquitous information and communication networks are already visible in the widespread use of mobile phones today: there were over 1.8 billion mobile phones in circulation by the end of 2004, and the number is set to surpass 2 billion by the end of 2005.
2 billion cell phones connecting multi-billion objects...that's a real search engine.
The next logical step in this technological revolution (connecting people anytime, anywhere) is to connect inanimate objects a communication network. How? They will need a physical world hyperlink. Know what that could be?
It seems that we are standing on the brink of a new computing and communication era, one that will radically transform our corporate, community, and personal spheres.
Find the technology that can connect a physical item to the Internet and the technology that provides hyperlinks and then you found Web 2.0.
What do you think?

I think we already have. Who in the business world will recognize it first is the question?
