Since its 2003 launch Match.com Mobile has seen more than 5.5 million chat requests, and more than 7 million messages have been sent as of June 2005.
As Roldan says, mobile dating offers a faster and more immediate way of finding other potential matches as well as enabling singles to become more flirtatious with one another; however, the one drawback is cell phone's small screens
Eventually, Match.com also hopes to enhance the service with a more enhanced location-based technology, so that mobile users could find matches in close proximity based on the location of their phone, she said.
(I can see advertisers using this in a big way. Two people make a connection on 7th Avenue, and a restaurant or bar texts a coupon for a free drink. This would be a great way to break the ice for the couple and bring in business).

Match.com Mobile is currently available to Cingular, Nextel and Sprint users. Soon it will be available on other mobile providers

I work at New York based start-up MeetMoi.com. I think our instant, location-based approach to mobile dating possibly offers the best user experience. Simply put, the traditional dating networks, even with mobile technology, neglect location differences and time delay.
